If the laser printer is connected to AirPort Express via USB, you'll need to set up FreeBSD to print via the "AppSocket" protocol (sometimes called "JetDirect" since HP's early JetDirect print servers pioneered it) to port 9100 (that's the standard AppSocket port). If the printing software you've already got installed on your FreeBSD box doesn't support AppSocket, you may need to install something that does, such as CUPS (see cups.org). If the laser printer is connected to AirPort Express via wired or wireless Ethernet, then you should be able to print to it just like you'd print to any other networked laser printer. |
