One of the options for the desktop background on Windows XP is an
image called "Bliss." It shows green rolling hills under a blue sky
with clouds, and some mountains in the distant background. My
question: Is this a real photo (as opposed to a digitally created
one), and if so, where was it taken?

Thanks, crinklebat! I paid the $7 and got my answer. So, everyone
else, please disregard the question. And for anyone else who's
wondering about Bliss Hill, I'll save you the $7: it's in Washington,
but they used a Hawaii lookalike for the TV ad campaign.

An advertising hook for the official Microsoft Windows XP magazine is
that you can read it to "Find out where the real Bliss Hill is!" The
article in which this information can purportedly be found can be
purchased here: http://www.zinio.com/issue?is=71050614 for $7. A
discussion here: http://www.gadgetopia.com/2004/04/12/TheWindowsHillside.html
has people making suggestions ranging from Sonoma to the Palouse area
of eastern Washington State. If you're willing to pay $10 here,
perhaps you'd be willing to shell out the $7 for the article?
