On Lotus Notes, you can design documents, so that I can have, say, a
line of text which is the title of a paragraph, and when I click on
the line of text, it expands to reveal the text of the paragraph. And
I can click on the title line again, to collapse the paragraph.

How do I do this in Word or Outlook (I have 2003), or even HTML?

You can accomplish this in HTML with JavaScript, as follows:

<html>
<head>
  <script>
    function toggle(objid)
    {
      var obj = document.getElementById(objid)
      obj.style.display = (obj.style.display=="none" ? "" : "none")
    }
  </script>
</head>
<body>
  <div onClick="toggle('para1')">Title of paragraph</divn>
  <div id="para1" style="display:none">
    This is the text of the paragraph
  </div>
</body>
</html>

Here's a web-page that does it nicely:

And here's how to do it in Powerpoint

Hi. It's quick! You'll use Outline View. This is what you do:

1. Make the title of each paragraph a heading style. To do that, click
on the title of the paragraph and change "Normal" on the toolbar to
Heading 1, Heading 2, or Heading 3.

2. Next, view your document in Outline View by choosing View>Outline.

3. Next, change "Show All Levels" on the toolbar to "Show Level 3."
You are now looking at just titles. To expand a paragraph, click on
the plus sign to the left of the title.

Hope this helps!
