I am looking for where I can buy one of the following (any of these
answers is okay):
1) Sterile single-use glass barrel syringes, 10cc, either luer lock or
slip tip okay, for medical purposes,
OR
2) Prefilled saline and heparine flushes packaged in sterile
single-use glass syringes, luer lock or slip tip, for home infusion
services. (These may be in a different size than 10cc.)
OR
3) A company that can fill a small order (about 500 count plus or
minus 200) of prefilled saline and heparine flushes IN GLASS SYRINGES
in a reasonable time (less than 2 weeks), for home infusion services.
BD makes Hypak sterile glass syringes (packaged in bulk, so not
available for an end user pharmacy to buy) for companies that do this
kind of prefilling, and there are machines that automate the process,
made just for the BD Hypak glass syringes, but I could not find an
actual supplier. I've seen these flushes before, in the BD Hypak
glass syringes, so I know they can be made/perhaps are being made.
I need to know where I can buy them -- once I find a vendor, a
pharmacy will do the buying. I want to absolutely find a supply, not
just a lead that I can check.
Important: I DO NOT WANT PLASTIC SYRINGES, REUSABLE GLASS SYRINGES,
STERILE GLASS SYRINGES THAT AREN'T PACKAGED TO GO TO THE END USER
(PATIENT), OR ANYTHING FROM EBAY UNLESS IT'S A REPUTABLE MEDICAL
SUPPLIER.
I do not want an answer unless it is absolutely certain that the
supplier has the product in stock and can ship it. I need more than a
few syringes, but 50+ (as leftover stock) is an acceptable PARTIAL
answer.
Relevant information:
BD used to make Glaspak single-use sterile 10cc glass syringes,
Reorder# 5294. I found some on a bulletin board but was unable to
find the actual medical supplier to buy them. Univ. of Ill at
Champaign-Urbana may have some in stock but will not sell them outside
their faculty and staff. Fisher scientific is out of stock.
Baxter no longer does this kind of prefilling. I called the BD
division that makes the Hypak glass syringes, and they are unable to
see down through the cloud layer to put me in contact with an end
supplier. I called Dabrico, which makes a syringe filler for
automated filling of BD Hypak SCF glass syringes from 1-50ml, but they
did not know who supplies either the sterile single-use glass syringes
or the prefilled flushes (in glass).
The glass barrel syringe products are necessary in the case of certain
allergy patients, especially pediatric patients. The BD person seemed
annoyed at inquiries, indicating that she thought she was done turning
away all the medical and scientific buyers who were upset by the
discontinuation of the Glaspak single-use glass syringes. But they
make tons of the Hypak glass syringes for SOMEONE who is filling them,
and the most common use of prefilled syringes in medical settings are
the prefilled saline and heparine flushes. It just seems logical that
someone is making and selling them, or can make and sell them, but I
am unable to find the answer. |
