Question ID: 504682
I need assistance setting up multiple pop3 accounts in Outlook 2003 so
that there are separate folders for the inbox and any other folders I
may create for the individual accounts.

For backround purposes, I am an IT technician and am very computer
(and Microsoft product) literate. My computer is currently running
Windows XP SP2, and I have the most updated version of Microsoft
Office 2003. I use Outlook 2003 as my mail client for several email
accounts, including two IMAP accounts, one HTTP account, and
(hopefully) several Gmail accounts. All of the IMAP and HTTP accounts
have separate data files without changing the association for the
Calender, contact list, etc.

I have several Gmail accounts (a business account, a personal account,
a family account, etc.) and whenever I attempt to add a second
account, it is automatically combined with the first under the primary
inbox in the original Personal Folders data file. There is no
distinction between the two in terms of separate folders or the like.
When I attempt to add another data file, I can't choose to deliver one
Pop3 account to it and leave the other in the original location. I
would greatly appreciate any and all assistance in this matter.

Try using the rules, make rules for each account saying that an email
received for the account x will be moved to the Folder X, etc. I did
this in the past and it worked well for me. Let me know if this kind
of answer satisfy your needs and if you need further assistance on
this I will post it in the answer box.

That's the best solution I could think of in lieu of creating separate
data files...if there is no easy way to do this, that'll work fine.

Hi again!!

To perform this task you must create one folder for each account
naming them in a way that let you associate each folder with its
account easily (that is giving to each folder the name of the account,
ie the part before the @ symbol in the email address).
Then create one rule for account that says the following:
From Tools menu --> select Rules and Alerts --> New Rule --> Check
messages when they arrive --> Click Next --> Select When it is
received from an specified account --> Specify the account --> Click
Next --> Select move to the specified folder --> Specify the folder
--> Avoid exceptions --> Name the rule with the account's name -->
Select the "execute now" option if you like and ensure that the option
Activate this rule is selected --> Finish and voilá!!, this must works
and it is easy to do.

Let me now if this answers your question in order to post this comment
in the answer box and can claim the prize, if not let me know also to
continue researching following the guidelines that you will provide if
this not satisfy you.

Regards.
