I want to have a live sitting session with a charcoal artist in New York City to draw a charcoal portrait. I am looking for a list of charcoal artists in New York city that draw from live persons (ideally, with samples displayed on the web). I *do not* want a drawing from mail-in photo. The price of a portrait shold not exceed $1000. | |

Hello undercut: Thanks for the interesting question. I have been able to find the following artist in New York City who does live sitting for portraiture in charcoal: Name: Catherine R. Muhly Website: http://www.crmuhly.com/wp-index.html Costs: "Works on paper begin at $500 for a 9" x 12" head-and-shoulders done in pencil or charcoal." In-Person: "That fact obligates me to portray the sitter in a manner that rises above the fashions and concerns of the sitter's contemporary milieu. I strive to paint a portrait as objectively and truthfully as I can, to capture and display what is inherent to the sitter's character and temperament." Contact: Phone/FAX: 718-633-5405, Email: Catherine.Muhly@verizon.net Please have a look at her website and let me know if this is sufficient to your needs. Thanks. websearcher |
