When I was a child, my siblings, friends and I stumbled upon an
unusual creature.  It was a wormlike or leechlike creature with what
appeared to be one eye on one end.  The eye blinked slowly as it
looked at us, looking at it.  My sister became hysterical after
looking at it and we burned it.  I can not seem to find any reference
to such a creature...My friends (the ones who were not there) think
that I am nuts.  But I have witnesses.

My initial experience with leeches in the laboratory was very similar.
The front sucker of the leech very much resembled an eye as you can
see from the first url below. The second url shows a great variety of
leeches.  You might recognize yours among the pictures.
