I'd like to know of some real examples of environmental effects and linkages, ie: when a certain type of tree is planted, a certain type of bird that nests on that tree appears, and when that type of bird appears, another positive environmental effect takes place. I'd like to be able to link 10 or more events to make a chain evident... |

Maybe you are looking documentation of how plants and animals establish themselves in what has been a lifeless or virtually lifeless area, for example on a new volcanic island, in an inactive open pit mine where there has been no recultivation program, or water plant and animal life in a lake that develops there, and perhaps on the island of Bikini after the atomic bomb testing. There should be some studies about these types of situations, possibly parallel ones, say, for two volcanic islands in different climactic zones, e.g., off Iceland and somewhere in the Pacific (?) That was looking for purely natural situations with no human involvement. There must assuredly be studies about what has happened when there has been recultivation of a barren area with a non-indigenous plant, but someone else is going to have to find the info for you. |
