Hello,
I'm interested in finding out about significant and positive
environmental events that occur instantaneously as a result of an
initial event being instigated ; ie, when x happens, then it causes y
to happen. I'd like to correlate this to the "butterfly effect",
something that causes an effect to instantaneously happen at a
distance.

Hi Pinkfreud,
You're right, nothing happens instantaneously. I'm looking for
examples that we could see as happening on the heels of another- soon
afterwards...

It's a little hard to know what you're getting at here. Is this the
sort of example you want -- It finally rains after a long drought, and
the withered plants quickly spring back to life, new seedlings appear,
insects emerge from their sedentary states, etc.

If that's not it, give us a bit more to go on, please.

Thanks,

If with the "butterfly effect" you mean the chaotic example of a
butterfly's upsetting air circulation and this eventually resulting in
a hurricane thousands of miles away, this does not seem to be
instantaneous - if the theory actually holds true. Nothing physical
can instantaneously have an influence at a distance, even at the speed
of light, though you might accept that as being "instantaneous" in
regards to the earth.
