hi,

1) im looking for free websites that provide website traffic visitor
info. basically information like you can get from netratings.com or
hitwise.com (but those sites require pay). the more reputable sites,
the better. basically for a given website, i need to know its unique
visitors over time (for example visitors by day for the last 3 months
to 12 months).

2) im also looking for specific visitor info for lowermybills.com and
lendingtree.com. visitor count by day for the last 3 months at least,
preferably longer.

thank you.

Hi Dhamsta,

Sounds like you're asking for information about hits on specific web
sites. This information is only available to administrators of those
particular sites...it's not shared with the general public.

If you're asking for information on how to get these statistics on a
web site YOU administer, then we can probably help you.

Please clarify?

im looking for information on sites we do not administer. companies
like netratings.com or hitwise.com get the information through some
sort of sample, i.e. they measure the traffic behavior of a panel of
10,000 users and extrapolate that data to the entire net. basically
its like how nielsen comes up with share of tv viewers. there might
be some other ways.

ive seen a website that provided the info before, but i dont remember
the name and was unsuccesful in googling for it.

I think you're looking for Alexa:

http://www.alexa.com/data/details/traffic_details?q=&url=lowermybills.com

Does that ring a bell?

Thanks.

Alexa is an interesting tool, and although I agree with the general
advice to take its information with a few grains of salt, I think it's
valuable just the same.

Sure. There's a web called www.alexa.com. Perhaps that's the one
you're thinking of.

These types of site ask users to install a toolbar, and that toolbar
monitors their browsing. Now, if you ask me, those kinds of stats are
a bit skewed. For one thing, letting someone do that...well, it's
beyond me. I say that (and I mean no offense to those ignorant about
it) they're not the most intelligent lot, so how could you possibly be
getting "real" results?

Another reason Alexa is BS. Here's a report on a website near and dear to me:

THEIR STATS:
_____________________

Traffic Rank for vbaexpress.com: 703,720(66,831)

Speed: Slow (68% of sites are faster), Avg Load Time: 2.6 Seconds

Other sites that link to this site: 3

Popups: Many (50% of sessions have popups)

MY STATS:
______________________________________

Traffic Rank: This is the ranking compared to all websites. So be sure
that around the holidays, your site's ranking is gonna drop...that is
unless you sell toys or something.

Speed: There is nothing slow about our site, and that % is just total
BS. It never takes 2+ seconds for a page to load there.

Other sites that link to this site: There are one heck of a lot more
than 3 sites linking to that site. They are just the 3 whose owners
loaded up info about their webs to Alexa. Don't you think that's a bit
misleeeeeeeeeeeading?? I do.

Popups: 50% have them? I don't think so! There are NO popups on that site!

Number of reviews showing: 1

Number of reviews that we KNOW for a fact were submitted pre-2005: At
least 3 others.

Sorry. I get angry about that stuff...it's just really misleading.
