Is it possible to do a lease on a car and in turn to rent to other people?

Example: I want to lease a van and then rent it out to college
students. Is this generally possible? If so, what companies will
support this kind of arrangement?

You are CRAZY. I don't think it is possible, check the fine details of
the lease you signed. It probably says no one other than you can drive
the Van.

Besides, college kids aren't particularly know for their safe driving
habits. You would need some type of insurance they could purchase
that would cover you. However, short of having a business that does
this, I fear that you may be out of of luck.

No, I disagree, you may not be crazy, but you must read your lease
contract carefully. If you have a long term lease - not just one for
the weekend from Hertz or Avis - a contract from or arranged by the
seller of the van, you may be able to rent the van - but read the
contract carefully, and ask the leasing company. And you will need
special insurance. If your renter has an accident, it is pretty sure
that your personal insurance will not cover an accident relating to
someone's using the van under a rental contract. OH, Clint already
mentioned that, but it bears repeating.
