My question is regarding domain name value and usage. http://www.yellowpages.com sold to SBC and BS for a reported $100 million earlier this year. It did not have the revenue to substantiate such a bulk purchase price I further understand. Many industry experts say it was the largest amount paid for a domain name in the history of the web. Yellowpages.com was established in the same city and about the same time as as http://yellowpagesnationwide.com - Las vegas, Nevada. Yellowpages.com is shorter than the nationwide moniquer but in some reports the nationwide out performs the yellowpages.com in usage and popularity. The question is http://www.yellowpagesnationwide.com also has the rights to http://www.yellowpages.tv. What is the value of http://www.yellowpages.tv to the longer http://www.yellowpagesnationwide.com? Do the .TV domain name extentions have the validity of some of the extreme costs companies have paid for their annual rights to control that specific domain name? Thank You. |

Internet sever isp's are not required to support the .tv extension. Which means that search's will not perform as well with that extension. However these day's paid ad's and click's are the star performer's over searches any day. I don't know who justified that price for yellowpages.com but they will never realize that investment on the web. |
