What do I need to do to get an old DOS game, F.Godmom, to run properly
on Windows XP? I can provide more information about the game if you
truly can help.

If the commentor below was unable to help, please provide me with some
more information on the game and I can take a look at it.

XP was supposed to provide slightly better DOS compatibility from
previous versions of Windows 2000 & NT, but I am sure that was not a
high priority for the programmers.

Also, can you tell me what file system your hard drives are formatted
for? If they were formatted with FAT32, we may be able to devise a
boot-disk scenario that will get you a dos prompt without risking your
hard drive's data.

Let us know!

I was able to run the latest version of the game in my Windows XP
Professional Operating System. What sort of problem did you encounter
when attempting to run this program? Perhaps you can right click on
the program, then select properties, then choose the Compatibility
Tab. Then, check "Run this program in compatibility mode for" and
then choose Windows 95.

Does this solve your problem?

I do not know what file system my hard drive is formatted for. How do
I find out? I only have one hard drive. I have a Gateway 700XL
computer with a 2.2 GHz Pentium 4 Processor, 1024 MB RAM, 120 GB Hard
Drive which is only about 20% full. Also, how do I respond to
robertskelton-ga who posted a comment on my question and I would like
to e-mail him with questions. His response indicated he may be
helpful. Thanks

You could download the latest version, 5.0, which works on Windows, and is free.

I have the latest version and it does not work on XP, but it worked
fine on Windows 95 and 98.

Try using a usility called VDMSound at

https://sourceforge.net/projects/vdmsound/

It is a general type of utility to help run old DOS games in Win2K and XP.
