Hello,
I hope someone can help. I have new sata HDD, Sweex sata raid pci
controller and win xp pro boot diskettes. At start up I pressed F4,
got Raid configuration utility and made low level format. Maybe I
shouldn't do this because I don't know what low level format is.
Now at start up I don't get request to put boot diskette in drive so I
do not know how to go on.
Thanks

Are you trying to install Windows? The way to do it is boot off a
floppy or CD-ROM, then during install it prompts you for third party
controllers (I think it's F6 or something?) and install your SATA
drivers then. Then you should be able to install onto them as normal
hard drives.

Yes, I am trying to install windows xp pro. But I don't get message to
put boot diskette into drive to go on with installation.
This message I got first time before I made low level format.

Well, then please, get into BIOS (del), change the boot order so that
the first device was your CD-ROM (check your manual and read the
comments on the screen). After that insert Windows XP install CD-ROM
and exit BIOS saving changes (F10).
Then the Windows installation program will ask you to press any key to
continue - you press any key and the installation starts. When Windows
XP installation program will be seeking for any additional SCSI
devices press F6 - insert your diskette with SATA controller drivers
and install them. After that you'll be able to install your Windows XP
properly (in case your HDD is ok, 'cause low level format sometimes
can damage HDD - promise you'll NEVER use it again! very few users
need it really).

Good luck!

Thanks. You won't believe what was the problem. The mouse was not connected.
Thanks again
