Question ID: 506231
What hardware or software products, or open-source software, can
simulate the degradation of audio over mobile cellular networks using
GSM, GSM-AMR, CDMA, CDMA2000 and similar protocols and vocoders?

Clarification of Question by ikehat-ga on 07 Apr 2005 06:57 PDT
The input will be either external audio, like speaking to a
microphone, or PC- based audio file, such as .wav file. The output of
the simulator must be captured to a PC file, such as .wav file.

Since we need to select the best product, the question refers to a
comprehensive (although not necessarily complete) list of vendors,
resellers, etc.
Answer
There is no answer at this time.

hi,

There are hardware/software products like Sunrise Telecom 3G Master,
Radcom Inc. Cellular Analyzer, Agilent GSM/CDMA portable testers.

These products on work on principle;

a)Sending a Voice Stream (Codecs are selectable) over a media, at the
other end provide a looback (part of hardware u get), so the same
Audio file is recevied from the media. Now check degradation of Audio
stream, providing MOS score, lag, jitter analysis etc.

b) Come in parallel between two communication nodes and analyse the
voice quality not as accurate as option a.

Products from these companies are quite expensive, there are quite few
companies basically resellers who can rent it out.

Over what interface of GSM/CDMA you want to check voice quality, I
will be happy if can help you.
