Question ID: 506316
I am opening up a cafe that is located inside an athletic club and I
am looking for great names. The cafe will serve soups, salads,
specialty sandwiches and wraps and will also consists of a coffee bar
and smoothie bar. Although it is located inside a health club, I am
looking for a name that would attract people even as a stand alone
establishment located anywhere in the city. The cafe will have warm
colors, textured materials, and a modern look. The environment is
family oriented and laid back. The location of the cafe will be in
the center of the health club, adjacent to a pool deck with four large
pools.

Yeah, probono, go for the easy one :).
Watercress and Waterfront
Sweet, Sweat, Eat
Poolside Eatery
Second Wind Grill

I can just see the menu ... Health club sandwich :)

Who is going to go inside a gym/health club to eat food, beside the
club patrons themselves? I don't necessarily envision that anyone (or
a large segment of the local population) would have a reasonable
expectation that a restaurant in the middle of a health club is open
to the non-member public. Second, the thought of going through a
possible health hazard to get to food isn't *that* appealing to me.

Howell --

A suggestion: go to www.imdb.com (Internet Movie Data Base) and do a
Google site: search for "cafe."

My personal favorite would be "Rick's" from the movie Casablanca but
you might wish to name yours after Thurston Howell III.

Best regards,

Considering what the visual attraction will be, I would suggest:

The Girl from Ipanema

or  Ipanema Cafè

And free drinks for me if you choose it :-D

I would hesitate about using Omni's suggestion of "Rick's".

Rick may not approve and he's certainly not a man to cross.

In any event, customers may get upset unless you have a piano player
warbling "As Time Goes By", a band and the rest.

* Mirador
--> the word means a window with a good view, but what I like about
this word is its latin root mirari which means to wonder.
* Oshun
--> Yorubian goddess of love
* Ceres
--> Goddess of Fertility
* Euchulia
--> Greek word for "goodness of flavour"
