Contact Speedway (IMS) historian Donald Davidson. He can be reached through the IRRN (radio network) offices at imsradio@brickyard.com Or, he can be reached via the Speedway's PR head, Fred Nation at FNation@brickyard.com If you are unable to get an answer, please write back, as I have many more sources and historical documents. |

thanks for the comment, i have spoke to mr. davidson in the past and although helpful, he notes that he is not a "gearhead" regarding car specifications. i was hoping to search out info from a "gearhead" like myself. |

The Foyt Indy V8 displaced 255 cubic inches, and weighed approximately 400 lbs. The horsepower output could vary greatly, depending upon the turbocharger boost; typical qualifying 800 HP; race setup probably 700-750 HP |

Further information just occurred to me. The Indianapolis Motor Speedway owns both of the 1977 Coyotes, the race winner and the nearly identical backup car. Thye purchased both cars at auction from Foyt. I'm thinking that research into 1977 USAC Champ car specifcations would get you close to the other information you're looking for; wheelbase, etc. In either late 1977 or early 1978, one of the two Coyotes car were used to set what was then a closed course speed record at the old Texas Speedway. |
