I am looking for an online course in general chemistry.  This course
needs to be something beyond the basic "Introduction to Chem".  I
would like it to be the equivalent of what would be the introductory
sequence for chemistry majors and/or suitable for pre-med or
pre-health students; a more advanced course might also be OK.  It
could be general or physical chemistry, preferably but not
neccessarily including some kind of lab.   I would prefer that it be
self-paced. It needs to be from an accredited & reputable university,
so that most US (non-online) graduate schools would accept it as
fulfilling a requirement.  (I am not concerned about the "prestige" of
the school, though.  Also, I am not concerned with issues of how it
looks to a school that I'm taking a course online rather than at a
brick-and-mortor school--this is a "rubberstamp" course; I've already
been accepted, am accomplished in science, and just need to fulfil the
letter of the law.)

classes online that meet all your requirements. I was able to locate
two that seem to meet all your criteria, including the requirement for
a self-paced and open entry programs. I was able to find some
additional online programs that might suit you but they are only
available on the regular academic calendar schedule of each

This answer was great--exactly what I wanted and (I know from looking)
very hard to find.  I am impressed with the researcher's skill and
thrilled to be given multiple choices.

I found the following online course from an extremely reputable
Canadian university which specializes in science and engineering:

I will also note to you that American students will likely have to pay

My husband just registered for a Chemistry class at
www.chemclassonline.com
This is through Weber State University in Utah.  He needs it for
admission to nursing school.  The nursing school has had other
applicants that have taken it and the only "challenge" that they have
had was timely transcript delivery.  From our experience so far, the
admissions and the registration staff are somewhat incompetent over
the phone.  Different levels of chem are offered.
