What software is required for me to partition an 80GB Maxtor 3.5" HDD into 4 seperate filesystems/partitions. I'd like a 50GB HFS+, a 10GB NTFS, a 10GB Ext3, and a 10GB FAT32 partition. How do I go about doing this and or what software is needed? I'm using a Mac Mini to do this and the HDD is in an external case (USB 2.0). | |

If your goal is to separate your HDD to different partitions(at least 4) than i can advice you Acronis Disk Director http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/products/diskdirector/ |

Mixing Mac and PC partitions on the same drive...

...is very tricky and quite a hack, but some crazies over at MacOSXHints.com have figured out how to do it. Go to the following URL and read the whole thread: http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=20030613121738812 They only cover HFS+ and FAT (they don't cover how to add NTFS and ext3 to the same drive), but you could probably get their basic method to work for those additional partition formats as well. Good luck. |
