Hello. I need to know the father's first of a well known war pilot. Charles "Chuck" W. Sweeney dropped the atomic bomb on Nagasaki in 1945. He died in Boston in 2004. Several obituaries say that his father was a plumber. I need to know the first name of the father. Also, any other information about the father would be very helpful, including the middle name. Please include the source that you used to find this information. Thank you very much. Jana |

Jana, Several obituaries I looked at mentioned that Charles William Sweeney was from Massachusettes. I checked the 1930 census records for Massachusettes via Ancestry.com: http://www.ancestry.com/ and found the following record of the Sweeney family: Quincy, Mass Father and head of household: John J. Sweeney, 39 Born in Mass. (John J.'s father was born in Mass, mother in Canada) Occupation: Plumber Industry: Norfolk Prison Colony wife: Mary B., 33 children: John J., 12 Charles W, 10 Marylyn A, 4 Arthur, 2 10/12 Charles W. was 10 in 1930, which would have made him 84 in 2004, which is the age of death reported in Sweeney's obituaries. I did not see anything to indicate what the "J" in "John J" stood for. I trust this is the information you were seeking. However, please don't rate this answer until you have everything you need. If there's more I can do for you, just post a Request for Clarification to let me know. All the best, pafalafa-ga |

jabana-ga, Thanks so much for your feedback, which was generous several-times over. And my apologies for misspelling Massachusetts so many times! Hope to see you back here one day soon. paf |
