Looking for the piano sheet music to the "All In The Family"
television theme song. I only want the closing credits theme (a piano
solo). I have read somewhere that Carol O'Connor hinself was credited
with some of the writing of the credits, but cannot be sure.

Note to other researchers:

I requested that my answer be removed as the customer requires the
full piano arrangements for the song "Remembering Me."

Here is a copy of my answer so that you will not provide duplicate information.

The name of the All in the Family closing theme song is ?Remembering
You.? It was composed by Roger Kellaway and the lyrics were written by
Carroll O?Connor.
http://experts.about.com/q/1120/755838.htm

?There were two theme songs written for "All in the Family." - "Those
Were the Days" for the opening and "Remembering You" for the closing.?

?The closing theme is listed in the credits as written by Roger
Kellaway and Carroll O'Connor. Actually, Carrol O'Connor didn't write
the music. He wrote the lyrics, which were not performed.?

Excellent research. However, the sheet music listed are for Lead
Sheets, which only contain a melody line, and shord symbols, as
opposed to a whole arrangement, which I am seeking. I have placed a
request into Annie's Music to see if their copy is a Lead Sheet as
well.

Thank you for the quick response. Can you tell me if there are any
full piano arrangements to Remembering You? (Not "E-Z", or "Big Note"
piano versions, which are for very early players.)

I'll do further research and hopefully will locate the full piano
arrangements to Remembering You. Please let me know if the sheet music
from Annie's Music meets your needs when they reply.

Thanks, Bobbie7

Annie's Music stated that the music was "permanently out of print",
and they apologize for not updating the website. Do you think it
possible to locate a copy of this out-of-print work?

I have been searching all morning for the full piano arrangements to
Remembering You and unfortunatley I did not find it.

There is a free preview for the sheet music at Movie TV Sheet Music
http://movie-tv-sheet-music.com/Sheet-Music-Tabs/Remembering%20You.html

Here is a screenshot of the free preview.

If this is not the type of sheet music you require, please let me know
and I will ask the editors to remove my answer so that other
researchers can try to answer your question.

I'm sorry for the inconvenience.

Sincerely,
Bobbie7

Hi again,

Unfortunately, the music at Movie TV Sheet Music is a lead sheet,
rather than a whole arrangement. Thank you very much for your
assistance.

That should be "Remembering You" in the second line of my comment.

As I am reading this message and seeing how long ago it was posted, I
am wondering If this came too late. I don't know where you could get
an actual copy of the sheet music, though I have seen them before.
However, Donna McCrohan's book, "Archie & Edith, Mike & Gloria : the
tumultuous history of All in the Family" contains both "Those Were The
Days" and "Remembering You", though the last couple of measures appear
to be cut off. I, too had been searching for this music, and after I
could not find it anywhere I printed a lead sheet and added in the
chords, thinking this was the closest to the actual music I could get.
The music in McCrohan's book is not an "E-Z" Arrangement and is
virtually identical to the version Kellaway played at the credits,
though the runs played by him in the closing are not in the music.
You could also try to find a MIDI file of "Remembering You" on the
internet and use a MIDI notation program to get a copy. You can
download a 30 day trial at www.notation.com. If you need help
converting the song, consult the user's guide you can download with
the program. I hope this has helped. If you were searching for the
original printed sheet music, I think you'll have a hard time
obtaining it, since I've seen it only a couple of times. If you
really want to find it, keep checking out eBay since I've seen it
there before.

I don't have a direct answer for you on the closing theme song (and
don't know if you even want to know anymore), but I know the pianist
who seems to have played it for the show. I just noticed his name on
the closing credits to All in the Family a couple weeks ago. His name
(listed on the show credits) is David Bourne - a jazz musician in Los
Angeles. He played with my father's jazz band from time to time, and
eventually bought the rights to the band (Resurrection Brass Band)
from my mother at my father's death. (Band can be seen in opening
sequence of 1984 film All of Me - Directed by Rob Reiner, starring
Steve Martin / Lilly Tomlin.) Dave Bourne, aka: Professor David
Bourne, is still an member of the Musicians Union in Los Angeles. He
also may still play the piano at the Magic Castle in Hollywood (in his
alter-ego as Irma, the Haunted Piano.) Dave was always very
accommodating to "fans" and you might be able to locate him through
the Musician's Union Local 47 in Hollywood, or possibly through the
Magic Castle. He, if anyone, would know if there's sheet music for
the closing theme floating around somewhere. Best of luck!
