Currently I am researching the joint venture between Kia and Donfeng
Motor Corp. They are a company that decided to invest and set up a
manufacturing plant in China in 2002. 

I would like to find out more information (or find out where I can
find out more information)on how the joint venture between Kia and
Dongfeng Motor Corp
automobile company came about. Specifically, I am very interested to know:

1. Why Kia decided on a joint venture with Dongfeng (over other
chinese companies)? What other joint venture partners were they
considering at the time?

2. Why Kia did not just decide to go into China on its own?

3. Why did Kia choose expand into China over other asian countries?

Those are some great questions. I think they chose China because of of
it rapid growth and expansion potential. As far as a joint venture, it
is safer to use half of your money and possibly lose it vise all of it
if the deal goes bad.
