Briefly, a registered agent is a real person who is the designated
point-of-contact for a corporation. There is no such thing as a United
States corporation... corporations are formed in a certain state. Most
states require someone who is physically in the state to serve as a
registered agent for a corporation in that state. Note that
corporation A can be the registered agent for corporation B, but
ultimately, there must be a real person in the state of incorporation.

You can be the registered agent or you can ask another officer in your
company or an attorney to be the agent. If your company/corporation
is already registered in your state, contact the state office of
business affairs to get more information on how to register your
registered agent with the state.
