Question ID: 50949
I am looking for a used computer module for a 1990 mitsubishi mighty
max pick-up (4 cylinder, stick shift). They made three or four different types
that year, so you need the vin # for reference (JA7FL24W6LPO16448).

Hi maxfischer

I'm close to finding one for you,
I need a few more bits of info.

There is a # on the unit, the last
gentleman I spoke with said it
might look something like:
F268xxxxx

I also need to know if it's 2wd or
4wd and what size engine.

Without having the code I was
told that this unit could be
repaired for a cost of $375
with a 2-3 day turnaround.
Not including shipping. They
are in California.

I'll track it down for you as
soon as I get that clarification.

thanks

Hi maxfischer... were the comments

thanks

I think your goal is to save money by locating a used auto part
yourself instead of having a shop do it for you.

The site link below connects you with auto wrecking yards across the
country.
Tell them what price you want to pay for used auto parts and they will
search for it. Your part request is fulfilled through their Auto Parts
Network, connecting you with auto junk yards and auto recyclers across
the country
They specialize in used auto & truck parts, engines, transmissions and
body parts.
They have successfully located 90% of all the car parts requested.
They have access to a large network of auto junk yards nationwide.
You can buy direct from the yard that stocks the part(s) -- No
Middleman Markups!
You can receive multiple bids via email, phone & fax.
You can save up to 60%!

You stated the part you are searching for is a computer module. The
term the system will recognize is "Electronic Engine Control Module".

Here are a couple of more sites that specialize in this problem. They
also explain the problem with your model year and give backround
information on why failure of this part happens and cost efficient
ways of solving the problem. One of these sites also tells you how to
find and remove the part from your vehicle on your own.

One site I previously referred you( http://www.avproecm.com/index.htm
)to looks to offer your part for $175. That doesn't sound too bad.
Search the other sites too and maybe you'll be able to find an even
better price.
