I am trying to find an official statement regarding the death of
"Detective Ralph Luisi". By official statement I mean something
along the lines of an obituary in a newspaper that is unambiguous and
clearly refers to the Ralph Luisi who I give more information about below.
I need to know the date he died, and I need some sort of proof that
he is indeed dead and that it is not simply someone with the same
name. i.e., an obituary from a newspaper that refers to his being a
detective for the sixth
precinct.
I know that Detective Ralph Luisi (shield nbr: 01376) died in
either April or May of 2004. I know that he was somewhere around 45 years
old, give or take five years or so either way. I know that he had four
children and that his fourth child was born less than a year before his
death. I know he died of a massive heart attack.
Here is the address of the police station where he was a detective.
It is known as "The sixth precinct":

233 West 10th Street
NYC, NY

Finally, below I paste some information about the 6th precinct
where Detective Ralph Luisi was a detective:

The 6th Precinct services the West Greenwich Village Area.
Washington Square Park is located in the center of the precinct. The
Washington Square Park Arch was erected to commemorate the 100th
anniversary of George Washington being elected President. The campus
of New York University surrounds the Park and is visited by tourists,
residents and students daily.
The 6th Precinct has a large gay and lesbian population
and this community within a community has established both the Gay and
Lesbian Community Center located at 208 W. 13th Street and the Gay and
Lesbian Anti-Violence Project located at 647 Hudson Street for the
service of all residents in regards to outreach, help and
understanding. Many of the bars and small clubs made famous during
the 60?s folk music scene can be found on or near Bleecker Street.

I can point you to unquestionable proof that only one
Ralph Luisi died in 2004, on April 19, in New York,
having been born on January 27, 1958, making him 46
years old. The record I've located also provides his
social security number, but does not indicate his
occupation at the time of his passing.

Would this information serve to satisfy your query?

Oh, and his middle initial was T, if that helps.

I notice you're new to the site, and thought you might not
be clear on how you can respond to my Request for Clarification.
You can do this even while I have the question locked.
A user's guide on this topic is on skermit-ga's site, here:

I am inclined to believe that you have located the death notice of the
Ralph Luisi that I am looking for, based on the age and the date of
death.

If you can use the social security number to prove the occupation is
"detective" and include that record as well, I'll add a $35 tip.
Otherwise I'd be greatful if you could advise how I would proceed on
my own to do that research.

But to clarify your request directly, I am satisfied with the
research you have done and will be willing to "close" the question,
assuming I can print out the record you point me to and it is from a
legitimate source which would be recognized as trustworthy by a fair
minded person.

The resource I utilized is a service of RootsWeb.com
called the Social Security Death Index Interactive Search:
http://ssdi.genealogy.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/ssdi.cgi

If you click on Advanced Search and input the name Ralph
Luisi, the date of death as 2004, and the place of issue
(of the death certificate) as New York, the only record
which is returned is for Ralph T. Luisi, born January 27,
1958, deceased April 19, 2004 (report verified with a
family member or someone acting on behalf of a family member).
His social security number was 118-52-9672.

I can't provide a direct link, due to the nature of the
web site, but if you insert the information I provided,
you'll arrive at a page which allows you the option of
purchasing a more detailed report on this individual.

I'm not sure precisely what information is available in
the paid report, though the page prior to purchase states
the following:

"A copy of the original birth or death certificate sometimes
provides additional information such as dates, locations,
parents, spouses, or other information. It also provides
documentation collected by careful genealogists or lineage
 societies."

%3D%26lc%3D%26lct%3D%26lus%3D%26luc%26luct%3D%26stat%3Da

You may also find further information about this man via
the results of the Google search outlined below, though
I cannot ascertain that the Ralph Luisi in the results is
the same man as the detective you have described.

I regret that I was unable to find any internet citations
which confirm Ralph's occupation as a detective.

I went to the page you directed me to where I can order a death certificate.
Unfortunately, I can only fill out one of the following required fields:
1) County; 2) City; 3) State: New York
The rest of the information I can fill in okay.
But the form will not submit without the above two required fields
that I don't have the info for.
Am I stuck or is there a way around this?

Another problem came up trying to get the death certificate. I tried
submitting the form without City and County and got the following
error message:

Death Certificate Request Form

The following errors must be corrected:

    * County of Death
    * City of Death
    * We're sorry; we cannot supply certificates for New York

I bit the bullet and paid $50 to an online investigative firm. They
instantly provided me with the full address of the deceased and
reconfirmed the date of death and age.
So, I think I have all the information I need now.

Thank you very much for all your help.

I'm sorry you had trouble submitting the request. That's
something I could not have foreseen, and would have been
at a loss to address, except to tell you to follow the
course you've already taken (apparently, while I was
sleeping).

There's no need to respond to this post. It's required
that I post a clarification to clear the notice I
received when you posted yours.

Best regards...

I was very pleased. I toyed with 5 stars, but decided not to in the
interests of leaving room for a really, REALLY great answer.
