I am trying to locate a video on child rearing by the parents of Doug
Flutie and have had no success...could you locate it? I need the
title and availability.

Are you certain the video featured Doug Flutie's parents, and not Doug
himself?

Doug and Laurie Flutie are the parents of an autistic child, and are
active in supporting and encouraging other parents of disabled
children. Could the tape have been specifically on this subject?

Billie,

I remember seeing something like this on a talk show, maybe Oprah. It
featured a family with a little boy who would not get dressed in the
morning, stand up at the dinner table, maybe something about a big
knife (!), and the expert (the father of a major sports figure) showed
the family how to improve this boy's behavior through more planning
and setting expectations, saying all along, "just look at my son, this
method really works!" Does this sound familiar?

The video is definitely by Doug Flutie's parents. Also it is not
about autism, just child rearing in general. As I recall it is a 2
video set. There was a TV show featuring this video, however it was
an evening show, I think it was on CBS, for a while there was a link
to purchase this video on the San Diego KFMB website (or the local
site for one of the other major networks), but it isn't there any
longer. I think it linked to a website that featured the Flutie's
(Doug's parents), I think it had a newsletter to subscribe to also.

A note that may help other researchers with this one: Doug Flutie's
parents are Richard and Joan Flutie.

You may be confusing NFL quarterbacks. Drew Bledsoe's father has been
marketing videotapes on child rearing. His focus is allowing your
children to make their own choices (as long as they are not put in
danger) and learn to live with those choices. His name is Mac(?)
Bledsoe and although I haven't seen the tapes I have seen him
interviewed many times and the concept does work on a limited basis
with my 5 and 3 year old boys.

Good luck.
