Hi Angel, The primary silk worm (a caterpillar), Bombyx mori, produces a strand of pure white fiber. Other varieties of caterpillars whose fibers are used to make coarser silks produce fiber in shades between white and light brown. There is also one that produces a yellow fiber. Are you sure mean a dye from silk worms? There are red dyes made from insects, unattractive little lice that live on plants. Could these be what you mean? |

Hi Angel, You must have been off somewhere looking for that silk worm. I didn't write the book on natural dyes, but I know someone who has, and feel confident that in his forty year's of research on the subject in many parts of the world he would have learned about it. What information do you have about this dye? Where did you hear of it, from which country? Just anything you can provide. I am very curious. |
