I have very tough questions that need very thorough answers. I have
consulted many immigration lawyers and they all gave different answers
to these questions, I don?t know which are right or wrong, and some
had no idea at all. So I hope you can help provide very clear and
detailed answers.

My mother, recently deceased, was a green card permanent resident in
the US and applied for her unmarried son for immigration in 1994. My
wife and I (both US citizens) co-sponsored the affidavit. Now my
brother just received an interview date for immigration visa during
next month (in May). My mother just passed away last month (in March).

My questions are: 

1.	How will my mother?s death (last month) affect my brother?s
interview (next month) for the immigration visa?
2.	What is the immigration law covering this exact situation? 
3.	If no clear law or precedence the consular office ultimately has
independent final say, is this correct?
4.	Can you find previous records for the same situation? What are the
percentages for granting or denial of the immigration visa? If you can
supply the records, please do so.

Please attempt to be as thorough as possible. This is very important!

Here you learn that you were ?joint sponsors? with your mother and
that you now have to become ?substitute sponsors? (a term specific to
your situation),
so just click on down and you see what you have to do.  Since as joint
sponsors you have already provided the financial support info
required, the rest should be a formality, but you've got to do.

And the lawyers gave you differing opinions ....?!  Maybe they can't
read plain English any more.  This website is most user-friendly and
plainly written, --
and has a "caveat emptor" about other sites giving immigration advice.
