Question ID: 511372
I am thinking of relocating to Sedona Arizona. I have a 13 yr old who
enjoys a school that has art and music classes and she is what I would
describe as alternative vs. "popular" She plays both suzuki violin and
celtic fiddle and wants to continue playing and having lessons. She
also wants to play basketball in school on a girls team or run track
or both. She is brilliant with computers and loves animals. I want to
find the best school and also want to know if there are any violin
/fiddle teacher's groups in the area. the school thing is huge too.
How c an I find the school that is right for her. I have tried google
but don't get much info. Thanks for any help.

This link might be a help in getting you started, anyway:

Education information is towards the bottom. It's not very
descriptive, but at least it shows in a glance what's in the
neighborhood.

Are you familiar with these schools already, or in need of information on them?

HI, thanks for the website. BUt... I am looking for more specific info
like names of fiddle or violin teachers or groups for teens and also
interested in knowing the differences between the two schools as far
as 8th grade goes. My child will be going into 8th grade and I would
like to know how one school compares with the other one as far as art,
music, academics and sports. I guess that's about as clear as I can
get. Feel free to write and ask me anything. Thanks, Marianne

maclancy-ga,

Don't worry, you haven't been charged (other than a 50 cents listing
fee), and you won't be unless a researcher posts a formal answer to
your question.

You've really asked at least two questions -- one about schools, and
one about music teachers. It's hard to answer these type of 2-in-1
questions, which may be why no one has come forward with an answer
yet.

You may want to think about focusing in on one topic or the other, and
posting a separate question for any other information you're
interested in.

Hi Maclancy,

These two sites might be of help to you:

http://www.astaweb.com/
http://www.teachingarts.org/resourceGallery/informational/readRecord$recnum=1511

The first one is that of The American String Teachers Association and
comes up many times on the first three pages of hits.
The second one seems more to provide services to string teachers.
Good luck.
