Hello,

I'm interested in locating mail order web sites that sell and explain
their robotic kits for a range of age groups and the level of
complexity and needed tools.

Kits need to be complete with nothing needed externally except
batteries and tools.

The level of self management or programmability of the kits is an
interesting part as well.

Hello again lizardnation and thanks for the question.

Robots from $19.95 to $99.00
“Welcome to one of the largest selections of robot kits on the
internet! Building a robot from a kit is one of the best ways to get
involved with robotics. Kits are also fun and educational. Our kits
range from the very simple "Scooter" and "RocKit" to the moderately
simple "WAO II" and the "Robotic Arm", to the advanced "Rug Warrior".
Many of these kits are available in soldering and non-soldering
versions.”

Rug Warrior Pro™ Kit $580.00
“Rug Warrior Pro™ is a small autonomous robot designed for educators,
researchers, and hobbyists. “
“With its new expansion capabilities, you can add talking modules with
sound recording features, a sonar range finder for complex navigation,
and devices of your own invention.”

This website has one of the most comprehensive lists for robot kits
(and anything to do with robots come to that! ) When you click on a
category the images do not display (you see a red X) just click on the
red X and you will see an image of the robot.

A nice selection of robot kits ranging in price from $19.95 to $109.95

Throughout my research I noticed Leggo Robots being listed quite a
lot. It would seem that for a basic introduction to robotics Leggo is
a good start, and should not be underestimated:

Everything to do with robots. Groups and Clubs, Kits, Scratch build,
NASA, Sci Fi, and much more:

Humour:
“The Encylopaedia Galactica defines a robot as a mechanical apparatus
designed to do the work of a man.
The marketing division of the Sirius Cybernetics Corporation defines a
robot as 'Your Plastic Pal Who's Fun to Be With.'

I hope this has answered your question, but if you need any
clarification of my answer donīt hesitate to ask.

A complete and comprehensive answer. A rather entertaining definition. :-)
