I'm a slender, female pilot with a day job. I'd love to find a pilot's or aviator's watch that *has* a whiz wheel (flight computer) but is small enough to not make me look like a reject from the 80's. New, vintage, or antique, my only requirement is that it works and is appropriate for a small woman's wrist. This may not exist- but I'm hoping minds more facile than mine with the internet will find it! Thanks. |

SmithRC -- The minute that you add the rotating wheel of an E6B to a watch you've increased the size. The best watch that I'm aware of is the Citizen Skyhawk. If that one's too big you're in trouble because the numbers on it are already so small that it's hard to read (and if you're over 45 the term may be "impossible to read.") I've owned one for years and recently went shopping for a new one. Use Froogle if you do because prices vary widely. And there are some special "Blue Angels" versions that actually may be less expensive (and more readable) than the stainless steel cased Skyhawk. One final note: the rotating calculator bands will bind up over time. I've never been brave enough to try any lubricants on them. What the heck, you use Flitestar anyways, don't you? Best regards from a reject from the 80s, Omnivorous-GA |

I also have the Citizen Skyhawk, and will have to agree. If the numbers were any smaller, there is no way I could read it at all. My eye's are geting noticebly worse, and I expect that in a few years I won't be able to read the numbers any more at all. I used to use it all teh time, but now find it almost too difficult to do. A whizz wheel on a womans watch (small face) would be probably next to useless. Sorry. |
