Float is traditionally defined as shares of stock NOT held by company
officers. Yahoo Finance has float figures... go to
http://finance.yahoo.com/, type in the ticker you desire, on the
left-hand menu bar under heading "Company", click "Key Statistics."
Under the "Share Statistics" table, there's the outstanding, official
float, insider, and institution data. Hope this helps.

Yahoo does have key statistics for many but not all companies.
