I am writing a book and need some colorful examples. I need examples of business leaders and their companies. I need two different comapnies. These need to be exciting and compelling and interesting stories to read. They can be summarized from newspaper articles, magazines, TV, etc. They can be about companies that you (the Google researcher) know and written by you (but you will give me right to your them - I will acknowledge your contributions if used verbatim). 1. Some business leader (preferably famous) saying that if they had devoted time and resources to formally planning their business, it would have been a failure. They never would have done such and such and been such a big success. Especially when the business is just starting out. Length: ½ page (including references so I can check) 2. A company (famous or not) making a big deal about how getting everyone exchanging information helps their organization be more effective. Their employees are more informed, they make better decisions more independently, delegation of authority is less risky, the whole enterprise is more adaptive because they have invested in a system or, more importantly, the discipline and culture of keeping everyone informed. I?d like to call it an information bath ? everyone is informed and each person can determine what is relevant to their job. Length: ½ page (including references so I can check) I need this on Saturday April 23 or earlier) | |

Here are quotes from some prominent individuals that you may find useful. Alan Alda, the star of the hit TV series M*A*S*H: "We never planned the success of M*A*S*H; it just happened. If we had planned it, there would have been enormous disappointments." -Alan Alda, The Complete Book of M*A*S*H Other Books: The Complete Book of M*A*S*H http://www.geocities.com/trapp_kling/otherbooks.html Jean M. Auel, author of the bestselling book "Clan of the Cave Bear": "If I had planned to write a bestseller back in 1980, would I have picked a Paleolithic caveman? No, I would have done some Hollywood glitz or some mysteries. Nobody expected it. They said yes, we think it's a good story, but we just don't think anybody short of [James] Michener should write books that long. They just didn't think it would sell enough." BookPage: Jean M. Auel http://www.bookpage.com/0204bp/jean_auel.html NASA mission controller John W. Aaron: "I believe that the key thing with NASA was, I had some early mentors who kind of looked out for me. I didn't have to plan my career. In fact, probably if I had planned my career, I'd have screwed it up." NASA Oral History Transcript: John W.
