Question ID: 513018
I need a way to recharge my U.S. "Light & Motion" brand bikelight
while here in Europe(Austria). Its 14-hr trickle charger says "Class 2
Transformer, Input: 120V AC 60Hz; Output: 9V DC 400mA."
I found that Light & Motion charges over $100 for a 220V version of
the charger, which seems awfully expensive. Unfortunately, the
charger's cord (the end that plugs into the rechargable battery pack)
has a unique, proprietary tip, so I can't use any off-the-shelf
charger.
Thus, I'm seeking a cheap 220V to 120V transformer that I can use
between the wall socket and my 220V transformer. Please provide model
number and URL for ordering.

I'm in Austria (Sound of Music, Mozart, Mountain Goats), not Australia (Beer).

If you want to order from US, this store ships worldwide
http://www.dvdoverseas.com/store/index.html?catalog6_0.html

That page gives you several models in range $ 15-30.
Since you need only 5W for charger, any will model shown will do.

You may save a bit ordering in Europe, e.g. by using ebay

Here are few listed which can be bought in Europe
http://search.ebay.com/voltage-converter

e.g. this one

(look for prices in EU or pounds)

If you speak german, austrian ebay may be useful

Call the electronic Dick!

Dick Smith Electronics.
http://www.dse.com.au/cgi-bin/dse.storefront/426a2edb115d35a22742c0a87f9c0727/Product/View/M1155

That URL may have a session ID and might not work for you. If not,
browse over to www.dse.com.au and search for the model number M1155.

It will be overkill, being suitable for up to 25W appliances, but it
is the cheapest they have at under AUD60.
