Hello melammy-ga,

As of April 1 Kolob Reservoir was not accessible because of snow. I
suggest that you call the Backcountry Permits Information phone number
(435-772-0170) to get current information about road conditions. I?ve
also included some additional sites that can give you information
about Utah road conditions and phone numbers to call for up-to-date
information.

This was a fun search because I found some beautiful photos of Zion along the way.

Best wishes for your trip.

Kolob Terrace Road Conditions
Kolob Terrace Road - April 1, 2005

Travel beyond the Maloney Hill Gate should only be attempted with high
clearance, four wheel drive vehicles. Snowmobiles are the only
vehicles permitted past the Black Canyon Gate. Access to Kolob
Reservoir is not possible with wheeled vehicles. High clearance four
wheel drive vehicles with chains WILL get stuck. ATVs are prohibited
inside the park. The Wildcat Canyon Trailhead still has 6? to 1 foot
of snow. The Lava Point area has 5 to 7 feet of snow.

***** You can call the above phone number to ask about current
conditions and to find out expected opening date for the road to Kolob
Reservoir.

Kolob Creek

Location: Kolob Creek begins almost at the highest point of the Kolob
Plateau, 9,200 feet on the slopes of Kanarra Mountain, from where it
flows across open meadowland for several miles into the reservoir, out
via a dam along a wide valley with scattered holiday homes then turns
away east, over the edge of the basalt plateau then begins to form its
canyon after another 2 miles, at an elevation of 6,750 feet. The Kolob
area is accessed by the Kolob Reservoir Road, which is paved as far as
the reservoir and open all year though usually snow covered for
several months in winter.
