Hi TheSeeker1-ga:
I happened to come across your interesting question today and thought
I would take the time out to answer.
I am the owner of a company that does exactly what you are looking
for. The name of the comapany is Americas-Mailbox. Our web site is
www.Americas-Mailbox.com. We are one of the countries largest
companies that does mail forwarding for RVers, truck drivers,
traveling salespeople, boaters and people that "just travel".
The easiest thing to do would be to paste some information from our web page here.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call me directly.
Whether you use my company or one of the others, I'll still spend the
time it takes to educate you so that you can make an informed choice.
My main phone number is: 605/718-1234. Just ask for me, Don.
The below is text copied from our web page, www.Americas-Mailbox.com
############
Americas-Mailbox has an office in Rapid City, SD and another in Wesley
Chapel, FL to serve you. Even though our offices are in South Dakota
and Florida in the United States, we can take care of all of your
needs for wherever you are in the world, not just the Americas.
Our original office is in Rapid City, SD and many of our customers
requested that we have another in Florida. We listened to our
customers and the Florida office came into being.
There are many advantages to using our company over any other. For one
thing, when we built this company, we knew what RVers and extended
travelers want...as some of us are RVers and have traveled extensively
as well.
We are a Christian family owned business. We believe in providing a
good service for a fair rate. We're not here to make a lot of money
quickly. I've been in business long enough to know the best way to
build a business is to build trust...and that takes time.
When we built our first office, we had many choices where to put it.
So, in order to save you money, we put it in Rapid City, Pennington
County, SD...which has
NO Wheel Tax (unlike other counties...this saves you an average of $32
a year!! Those of you that are using another service in South Dakota,
ask them if their county has the Wheel Tax. If they do, maybe you
should change to one that doesn't. (Think about it...over a 5 year
period, you'd pay an average of $160. Why pay it if you don't have to?
Wouldn't that be worth switching over?)
NO State Income Tax (This is a no brainer here folks!)
NO Safety Inspection
You can register to vote through the mail
is RVer friendly.
AND...South Dakota is almost the most inexpensive state to get vehicle insurance!!
We are among the very least expensive services of our kind...both in
South Dakota and Florida.
We have plans from $77 and up, depending on the level of service you
need. There are other companies that charge almost THREE TIMES the
amount we do for the same service. There is a company in South Dakota
that charges you every time you renew your license plates...whether
you do it yourself or they do!! There is also a company that charges
you over $200 for mail forwarding on an annual contract AND $4 every
time they send out your mail to you AND charges you sales tax on your
own postage!! We've even found a mail forwarding company in that
charges $600 a year for the same service we provide for MUCH less! Do
NOT allow yourselves to be ripped off! We just feel that this is NOT
the way to run a business and will not do it.
It is very easy to set up an account and use our address as your legal
residence. In South Dakota and Florida, you don't even have to come up
right away!! We can take care of it all for you! (Sorry, we can't get
your driver's license for you...they still want to take your picture
for the new license.) If you don't want to become a South Dakota or
Florida resident, that's ok...you don't have to come up at
all...ever!! We'll still take care of all of your mail and packages
and ship them to you wherever you go in this world!!
We not only receive your mail, we'll accept your packages from USPS,
FedEx, UPS and DHL/Airborne as well. And then, we'll ship them to you
whenever you're ready.
We invite you to send us an email or give us a call and talk to either
one of the managers, Steve Mitchell in South Dakota, Cheryl and Tony
Lesko in Florida (all are wonderful people I couldn't do without!!) or
myself, Don (the guy who pays the bills) to talk about what we can do
for you.
Please Note: If you want to stop by our office when you're in town,
please give the office a call first to make sure we'll be there for
you. Sometimes, we have to leave the office to go to the Post Offices,
the County Office Building to get license, titles or take care of
other business for our customers.
Also, if you come to South Dakota to get your drivers license, the
drivers license bureau is closed on Mondays.

In order to open an account with us, it is a very simple thing to do.
To get a complete Application Kit with Rates, Agreement, to open an
account with Americas-Mailbox, (go to www.Americas-Mailbox.com).
(Hint: On some computer systems, you may need to have Adobe Reader
already open when you go to get this file. If you do not have Acrobat
Reader, click here. It is a very common and safe program...one that
every computer should have.)
This file is 1 meg. and it should take about 4-1/2 to 5 minutes +/- on
a 56k dial up phone line connection. If you have any problems at all,
send us an email by clicking here, and I will send it to you directly
into your mailbox. Please include your name, address and phone number
with the request "just in case" the email bounces back at me as
Undeliverable and how you happened to hear about us and I can drop it
into the US Mail to you.
The Application Kit includes:
Our Rate Sheet
The Mail Service Agreement
Instructions for filling out Postal Form 1583
Form 1583 (This gives us authorization to accept your mail.)
A helpful "How To" information sheet on several topics such as getting
a SD Voter's Registration Card, Library Card, etc.
For those of you that would like us to get your vehicles registered,
we will need a Power of Attorney to do so. In the kit that we send out
to you, there are two different types. The first one, is a one-time
use only. You fill it out and when we use it, the County of
Pennington, South Dakota KEEPS it. The second is the one we prefer as
it makes everybody's life a lot easier. This one you fill out, we use
it and WE keep it to use every time we are authorized by you to get
your new license plates.
The final sheet in the kit is simply a page that we have put together
for our customers that based on our experiences, have found an
exceptional good deal for things, especially the Medical Evacuation
(MASA-Medical Air Services Association) membership. In my opinion,
MUCH BETTER THAN SkyMed, Good Sam, Escapees, FMCA or ANYONE ELSE. (I
have personal knowledge and experience with this.) Take a look at the
recommendation sheet. If you see something that you think is better or
have something to share with everybody, let me know and I'll put it on
there. We're all here trying to help each other!
To fill out Change of Address form online with the Post Office, (go to
www.Americas-Mailbox.com).
(Hint: On some computer systems, you may need to have Adobe Reader
already open when you go to get this file. If you do not have Acrobat
Reader, click here. It is a very common and safe program...one that
every computer should have.)
To calculate how much it will cost to register your vehicles in South
Dakota, (go to www.Americas-Mailbox.com). If you want us to register
your vehicles in Florida, this can be a long process. Please contact
the Florida office first.
Please Note: If we are going to register your vehicles, you MUST send
us either the Certificate of Origin OR the titles.
NOT A COPY! In South Dakota, we will need either:
something from the manufacturer indicating the true weight of THAT
vehicle, (not what that make/model weighs)
or
you will need to go to a CERTIFIED weigh scale (Flying J, Loves,
larger truck stops, etc.) and have your vehicles weighed, separately.
Please make sure your tanks are empty if you can.
For those of you folks that have a loan on your vehicle, some states
will issue a title showing who the lien holder is, others do not. We
must have something to give to South Dakota or Florida that you are
the owner of the vehicle, either from the current state and/or the
lien holder.
You MUST have an account with us BEFORE you register your vehicle or
start to send mail to us...and this is important...especially before
you buy you new vehicle as well. If you do not, you will probably pay
big money unnecessarily. If you have mail sent to us before opening an
account, we are REQUIRED by the post office to mark it Return To
Sender and send it back.
It doesn't take very long to open an account with us or to get your
license plates once the paperwork is in place. But please, don't wait
until the last moment to do this. Have us set up your account first.
The excise tax (of which you pay on recently purchased vehicles in
South Dakota) is only 3%. For you folks that are from the East Coast,
what South Dakota calls an Excise Tax is NOT what you are used to.
Think of this as you would a sales tax. This is NOT a tax that you
have to pay on every year, over and over...this is a one-time charge.
In fact, if you've already paid 3% or more sales tax on your vehicles,
you almost certainly would not have to pay it again...almost all the
states are have an reciprocal agreement. (I don't know if any of them
don't have that reciprocal agreement. I personally haven't run across
any yet.) If you've paid less than 3%, you'll have to pay the
difference. For those of you wishing to register in Montana, ask me
prior to doing it why it may not be a good idea for you.
To register in Florida, it requires a little more work. Please click
here to send us an email and let us know what you want to do and we'll
find out what we can for you.
We already are the least expensive mail forwarding company in all of
South Dakota and Florida that we know of AND we do things that very
few (if any) other companies do.
We all make mistakes, but we are so confident that we will do a good
job for everyone, if we make a mistake on sending your mail, as a way
of saying "We're Sorry" we put our money where our mouth is...we'll
pay for the postage. There are some common-sense restrictions that
need to apply. (Nobody else that I know of does that!)
If you're a annual customer and you stop by our office in Rapid City,
SD to visit with us, we'll buy you lunch!
If you need a place to stay in Rapid City and you let us know in
advance, we've made arrangements with a campground in the city limits
of Rapid City that you can stay there at reduced prices.
For those of you that have ever asked your current mail forwarder to
send your mail and you wait for days and days for the mail to be
delivered, only to find out it was never sent, you'll understand why
this is important. When possible, we'll have the post office send to
you via email a Delivery Confirmation number (at no expense to you) so
that you know exactly WHEN your package was delivered. No more
unnecessary trips to pick up your mail only to find it wasn't even
shipped in the first place.
We do these things as a way of saying we really value your trust in us
and to say "Thank You"...and there are more things coming.
Again, thank you very much for considering our company. We're not the
biggest (yet) mail forwarding company in South Dakota or Florida, but
give us a chance to earn your trust and we will be someday.
