Dear Researchers,

What is the approximate value of a four-piece-set of felt chairs
designed by Mies van der Rohe and made by Knoll Industries in May
1973? The chairs are red felt on solid metal frames (rounded as was
the sytle). The chairs are in near perfect condition with just a few
minor
scuffs and what looks like a cigarette burn on the felt of one chair.
Only one chair retains its original label which looks absolutely
authentic (we own the chairs). Less important (and feel free to just
guess on this last part) is: would the total value come out more if
the chairs are sold as a set or individually?

HI,
Are your chairs a design that is still being produced, maybe one of
the designs on this site:

http://www.bestofdesignshop.com/Mies_van_der_Rohe.html

This site could also be of interest to you:

http://www.architonic.com/web/nMuseum/fstMuseum.php?nid=0.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.6.0.1011.0&lng=1&prm1=1005443&prm2=0&flg1=1&sid=ae8840593c5bc580f11aa555443eacce

The Mies- chairs I found were on page 6. The one on page 9 has a
bronze frame, custom-made.

Here is another auction site:

http://www.liveauctioneers.com/catalogs/870.html

And this site seems to offer "surprisingly" low prices:

Your mention of felt surprises me, but maybe your chairs are quite
different from the ones usually associated with Mies- and Knoll.
Restorators can do remarkable repairs.
