I don't think Girard lost its trust, but this may well be the case
your friend remembers:

-----
The state Supreme Court yesterday heard arguments to consider whether
the Board of Directors of City Trusts, a 133-year-old institution
created to administer all estates bequeathed to the City of
Philadelphia, is a state agency that enjoys sovereign immunity.

Moore v. Board of Directors of City Trusts is on appeal from a
Commonwealth Court decision that concluded that the board is immune.
If the ruling is affirmed, the board would be immune from the claims
of Rosalind Moore, who sued over physical and sexual assaults her son
allegedly suffered from other students while he was a boarder at
Girard College.

The estate of Stephen Girard, the largest ever bequeathed to the city,
is managed by the Board of Directors of City Trusts.

Moore also sued Girard College and its board of managers for damages,
claiming that the college and the boards breached their duty in both
contract and tort to keep her son safe.

Do you think that this is the case you're looking for?

If so, what other sort of information are you after?

Let me know.

Hi pafalafa-ga thanks so much for your speedy responce, but I don't
think so. This was an endowment or trust left by someone, (over a
million dollars) the family contested the will, citing a change in the
school from the time of the will was writen, until the time of death,
Girard last the money. So I understand, but I can find nothiong about
it...thanks again, Sally-01.

This was the famous case in which the Supreme Court found a will
creating a whites-one orphans school unconstitutional. For more
details, read about it at:
