I need a ballpark estimate of how much video content is shown in the United States in a year's time. If I were to digitally record all programming in major US markets for one year, how many hours of programming would there be and how many terabytes of storage would it consume? Your answer should consider that each program would be recorded just once, even though it may be shown in each television market and repeatedly throughout the year. For calculating how much storage would be consumed, please assume that the content would be captured at the same resolution and quality as the source. Please also consider not only broadcast television, but also cable and satellite. Your answer does not need to be precise (it can be a range of values), but it should state its assumptions and offer links to back up the key assumptions. |
