When authoring research papers, the writers often place their titles after their names (e.g., B.A., M.B.A., M.A, M.D., etc.). Is there a title for a high school graduate now in college? Thanks. |

Hello RSB762-ga, Officially, there isn?t a title such as B.A, PhD, or M.D, used to describe someone in your situation. However, many people refer to this time in the student?s life as them being an Undergraduate Student. Let me give you a few different definitions of the term to show you how it applies to your situation. ?Someone who is enrolled in a two to five-year program of study that leads to a diploma, advanced diploma, or bachelor's degree (i.e., Diploma in Costume Studies, Bachelor of Arts, and Bachelor of Science).? science.dal.ca/fos_2262.html ?In some educational systems, an undergraduate is a post-secondary student pursuing a Bachelor's degree. Students of higher degrees are known as postgraduates (or often simply graduates). ? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Undergraduate_student ?An undergraduate student is generally in the first four years of his or her university studies and is completing a Bachelor's degree (e.g., BA or BS). Students who continue to study after they have graduated with a Bachelor's degree are called graduate students. Undergraduate students are often called "undergrads."? www.cte.duq.edu/itahandbook/itaglossary.html More Definitions: ://www.google.com/search?num=100&hl=en&lr=&c2coff=1&safe=off&oi=defmore&q=define:Undergraduate+student I also used http://www.scholar.google.com and found this research paper done by an undergraduate student to show how he used that as his title on the paper. From the Paper: Spectral Characteristics of Sheet/Cloud Cavitation Morten Kjeldsen, Associate Professor Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), Dept. of Thermal Energy and Hydropower, Alfred Getz v.4, N7034 Trondheim, Norway Roger E. A. Arndt, Professor and Mark Effertz, Undergraduate Student St. Anthony Falls Laboratory, University of Minnesota, Mississippi River at 3rd Avenue S.E., Minneapolis, MN 55414 http://scitation.aip.org/getabs/servlet/GetabsServlet?prog=normal&id=JFEGA4000122000003000481000001&idtype=cvips&gifs=yes I hope this helps you out. I've never heard of one, and I was in college for 4 years. Also, using B.A after your name after you graduate college will make people look at you funny. |

Unless you have a graduate or professional degree, a title is not appropriate. |

Actually i frequently see people use BSc... or BA... usually they are working directly in the field and have professional degrees as well... but yeah in general if you only had a B.A you shouldnt put it... but if you have more... often you will list the B.A with it... No there is no title for a high school diploma. In fact unless you have a degree granting college even a college diploma will not issue you a title. |

Nurses and other such medical/scientific personnel often add their academic degree after there name, as with 'Jane Doe, BSN' (bachelor of science in nursing), in this instance, in place of 'RN'. As for high school graduates, I agree: nothing is used. |
