I have been following the www.overunity.com board, and it's a sad sad
thing. A bunch of mental energy is being wasted on figuring out ways
to get things seen. It's disgusting.

Exxon doesn't have a way of buying 10% of some of their ideas?

Who among the fabulously rich has an email address for good ideas or
which of any oil producers have some kind of genuine outreach?

Emails of heroes is the goal.

The question was ill-phrased, as some threads at that website have
shown better info about patenting than I've seen in most books on the
subject.

I may close this question and re-ask it, because my sorrow came
through in the phrasing of the question.

I am wrestling with some harsh assumptions, like that the wealthy are
not well-informed, that they are incrediby cynical, or I don't know.
My experience with promoting a free DVD college suggests human welfare
is not served by any of the Forbes 500. I like to think a safe haven
for ideas will emerge in some other country if not the USA.

Last I heard, the 2nd law of thermodynamics hadn't been repealed.

I myself have gotten caught up in the energy ploys.  It's easy to do,
you hear a "good" idea and you expect it to take flight, but there are
some not so obvious reasons why it won't work or will cost much more
to make it work than expected.
The energy companies and car manufacturers are working diligently to
come out with the next big thing before their competitors do because
there is big money in it for them.  They won't let good ideas fall
through the cracks unless there is something fundamentally wrong with
the idea.
