I want to know some recent information about the Marine Corps Special Operations Command Detachment One. I know all the information that was released when the unit was activated and what weapons they have been buying. This includes the press release in Leatherneck Magazine, the Globalsecurity.org page on their structure and training, and the Soldier of Fortune article a couple of years back. I want to know what they have been doing in Iraq for the past year and what the future plans for the unit might be. Everything is pretty murky surrounding their actual activities. Thanks. |

Firstly I am not an american citizen, nor do I live in america, but I have many reliable sources such as uncles that are marines. When my uncles came back from Iraq they told us many of the stories of the war. The tales were mostly horrible ones of suicide bombers and ambushes. Fortunately both of my uncles survived the war with only minor injuries. Anyway the marines are trying to stop the rebelling in Iraq and take the tyrants off their thrones. Many say that that Bush is trying to get oil for himself in the US but that is a minor reason compared their wanting to save the lives of the Iraqi citizens. Yes they have had to kill some innocent Iraqis in the war, those that were caught in the crossfire and those that were caught up as soldiers for the tyrants. But mostly they are just trying to restore order in the war-stricken country. As for weapons the marines are using the adapted TF29-B, reletively cheap and easy to use. Also each marine has a 6 inch long combat knife, some bulletproof material covering their torsos in the front and each equipped with 500 bullets. That is the best that I can answer your question and I wouldn't suggest that you email the president as he would probably not answer your question. Yours truly, 31415926-ga |
