During the mid 1970's in the UK (possibly worldwide), Esso ran a
series of famous TV commercials featuring a tiger running across snowy
landscapes.

Although it's possible to get video copies of these ad's from various
sources, I would like to find out as much as possible about the piece
of music which featured in them. I'm sure it was specially written for
Esso, but by whom?
Does the piece have a title? Is there a 'full' (i.e. not 'cut to fit')
version anywhere? How could I get a recording of it?

I think McCann Erikson had the Esso account in those days, but no one
seems to remember who actually dealt with the production of the
'Tiger' commercials 25 years ago. Any information about this music
would be extremely interesting.

I remember these ads and the music very well, and although I can't
find a suitable audio clip on the web, I am fairly sure the music is
by Gustav Mahler - possibly from his Symphony No 5.
