with recreational boating, i.e., friends, family, boating/sailing
schools, professional services? -- verifiable sources and references are

data on people's motivations behind boating.  Would you be interested

I already have most of that sort of information from reports culled
from state boating agencies.

What is important for this study is to determine how people actually
started boating.

This report from Left Brain Marketing, published in September 2004,
shows who firtst introduced boaters to the sport.

You will need to have a Power Point viewer installed on your computer
in order to view it. A Power Point viewer can be downloaded at the

The survey found that the person who first took current/prior boat
owners boating was:
Parents ? 44%
A friend ? 19%
Other relative ?12%
Parent of a friend ? 12%
Grandparents ? 7%
Myself ? 3%
Spouse ? 3%.
