Can someone tell me how I can purchase Winn Dixie's 8 7/8% Senior
Notes due 2008. The company has defaulted on these notes, but someone
must still be making a market for them.

Any idea of how to buy these notes?

Hi supersst,

Merrill Lynch underwrote the 8.875% bonds, and Wilmington Trust is the trustee.
But both firms are now distancing themselves from Winn Dixie like a
brother-in-law who needs to borrow money. heh heh heh

You might try Wachovia. They are the debtor-in-possession for Winn Dixie.

Good luck!

P.S. If GM debt is lowered to junk status, your Winn Dixie junk
bonds will be marked down like month-old hamburger. Caveat emptor!

(I'm assuming the notes haven't been formally cancelled.) Any
competent broker-dealer can purchase the notes for you. You'll have to
open a brokerage account and tell them what you want.
