I believe the solution you are looking for is using the mail merge feature. You can send an email to all, a distribution list, or in this case you would select a category during the merge when prompted. The link below takes you to the Microsoft site with many help files on performing a mail merge with your contacts by category, etc. http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/results.aspx?Scope=DC%2CEM%2CES%2CFX%2CHA%2CHP%2CQZ%2CRC%2CTC%2CXT&Query=email+merge+categories As for your question about quickly creating a distribution list... You can sort them by category (View/Arrange by/ Categories) and then when you create the new distribution list you can Ctrl Shift to select those that you want to add very quickly.
