Dear sofamngr:

I'm not sure if this is it, but this is the most Taratinoesque movie
I've seen lately, and it involves two guys. Is it "The Way of the
Gun?"

Best Regards,

Not way of the gun....think the title has a reference to religion.

Thanks

I'm wondering whether you might be thinking of "Donnie Brasco," with
Al Pacino and Johnny Depp. Not a religious title, but it is an NYC mob
cleanup type of movie with two guys. It was released in 1997.

Here's Roger Ebert's review. Any of this ring a bell?

Hello.

Your movie is probably "The Boondock Saints" (1999) starring Willem
Dafoe and Sean Patrick Flannery.

The title is consistent with the religious theme you mention, and
according to a review on Rottentomatoes.com, the movie has all the
elements that you describe:

"Conner and Murphy McManus (Sean Patrick Flanery and Norman Reedus)
are two Irish Catholic brothers living in Boston...

When their favorite watering hole is threatened by the Russian mob,
though, the two God-fearing brothers decide to enact a little
righteous vengeance of their own and take it upon themselves to start
systematically eradicating the scum of the Earth from their
hometown...

[T]he police... call in Detective Paul Smecker (a positively brilliant
Willem Dafoe) to investigate...

Smecker finds himself trying to balance the line between his duties as
an officer of the law and the idea that the McManus boys may just be
the saving grace that the world has always needed."

Search strategy: vigilante, brothers, movie

I hope this helps.
