I don't think that the temperature of the water has much to do with
absorption or preventing cramps (that is, unless the water is
extremely hot- in which case you'll simply add to your body heat).
The body has its own mechanisms for water regulation through our
hormones and our kidneys, but this regulation does not depend on the
water temperature as far as I know. Your best bet is to simply drink
the water at a temperature that you feel most comfortable drinking.
After a long workout it is probably a good idea to drink cool water,
as this may help bring your temperature down a little. If you lose a
lot of salts during a strenuous workout, try drinking something like
Gatorade (which contains electrolytes, a fancy name for salts). Avoid
carbonated beverages.

I've always heard that the body must bring uses energy to bring the
water to your body's temperature. This energy used will cause further
dehydration, so it seems reasonable to me that you want the water
between room temperature and body temp.

Of course I could be way off on this one.
