Hi,
I was just wondering if you know of a web resource/site that has the
ability to map all incoming and outgoing flights from any given
airport, and more specifically Logan in Boston...I am an architecture
student working on a thesis involving logan and airports in general.
typically airports provide information on airlines servicing their
airport and will give information on a flight by flight basis....I'm
simply interested in knowing every potential flight.

Thanks

The answer is yes -- but it's going to cost you a monthly service fee.
But mind you, it's not "every potential flight" but rather every
active flight. It's impossible to know "every potential flight"
because there's no way to know when I might choose to hop into my
plane and file an IFR plan into Logan.

Best regards,

MMM...ok...well what are the sources that provie the infomation for a
monthly fee? The info I'm looking for doesn't have to be super
precise or accurate....would simply like to see a map of relative
activity.

The flights are all listed at the Logan Ariport site, so that may be
your best resource, even if they're not mapped. For instance, here's
all the arriving flights at the moment:

http://www.massport.com/logan/a_default.aspx

You can sort the list by time of arrival...the planes due to arrive
earliest are obviously the closest to the airport, and vice versa.

The same can be done for departing flights.

Does that information meet your needs, or must it be a map...?

Pafalafa's given you an alternate: commercial flights scheduled. It's
only a portion of the service in and out of Logan, as it misses any
charter, business jet or other private activity.

The source that I'd recommend is a mapping solution, costs about
$10/month, and would require that you monitor is periodically for
activity. It is provided by a company that does do custom data
tracking reports if you want longer-term Logan trends.

Please just let researchers know what's best for your task.

HI, would this help you?

http://www.massport.com/logan/a_default.aspx?srt=Time&city=any+origin&flight=any+flight%23&airline=any+airline

It's from http://www.massport.com/logan/

The list seems to list arrivals and departures under the flight no.
used by each airline, eg. Lufthansa, USAir and United all arriving
from Frankfurt at the same minute can't be three different planes.

This is apparently a LIVE site with the data straight from the tower,
so you may have to look at it a few times to get a whole day's
activity.

Good luck

Danfouad,
On the Massport site, you can actually also capture general aviation
traffic by using the monitor facility. Kind of neatsy, watching the
planes landing and departing.
If you wanted to, you can pick a previous date and time and then
accelerate the action.
I don't recommend that, really, but if the info is available on the
site, seems like there would be now reason for Logan not to just tell
you what the average number of general aviation flights a day is.
Hey, it's all there on the site, under statistics:

http://www.massport.com/logan/about_stati.html

and looks like this:

http://www.massport.com/logan/pdf/c_stats_mar05.pdf

More good luck!
