One can often hear sweeping statements about film production leading
to tourism, extra jobs and/or inward investment.

I look for studies, reports or articles which present FIGURES.

1) How much more tourists have arrived to a destination thanks to a
film set (or supposed to be set) at that destination? (Think: how much
more people have visited, say, Casablanca thanks to the movie?) (And
how much money are these tourists spending?)
2) How much does a city/a region make from having a film production
operating in an area; i.e. how much extra jobs, extra consumption
etc.?
3) Are there any examples that movies have led to inward investment,
that is, foreign investments?
4) Other effects from film production which are emphasized?

Hello tobylobyse-ga,

What an interesting question. I live in the San Francisco Bay Area and
through the years I've seen various reports on the economic value for
the region of San Francisco being used as the locale for various
movies and TV shows. I've also seen a few for the impact of such
productions on small towns, i.e., The Birds filmed in Bodega Bay.
You've asked a very big question for a small price. It would help if
you could spell out more clearly what would constitute a satisfactory
answer.

As a new user I suggest that you review these Web sites so you can get

Hi czh-ga,

A satisfactory answer would imply directions (web links, pdf files,
addresses) to already-made studies, reports and articles, not an
analysis of the results nor research on the topic itself. For
instance, repherences to the reports you mention would be just fine if
these are contain good and serious research.

For your information, this is not the first time I am using Google
Answers (I only changed user name) and I often tip if I am content
with the answer.

Best regards and good luck! I look forward to your answer.
